Getting around from Rio Del Oro

"The New Mexico Rail Runner Express uses solar energy — a clean and renewable energy source — to provide the electricity needed for the day to day operations of the commuter rail system. The photovoltaic system at the Belen station provides approximately 85 percent of the electricity needed to power the station's lights, communications system, and other electrical uses. This renewable energy replaces the need for the current fossil fuels used for the generation of electricity and reduces greenhouse gases." http://www.nmrailrunner.com/belen.asp

Photo: A big thank you to our bicycle passengers! As of this week, we've had 250,000 bicycle boardings on the train since service began.

Read all about commuters save $400 a month by taking the Rail Runner from Belen to Santa Fe

Belen is one of the local towns serving Rio Del Oro and the easy connection with neighboring Albuquerque can be seen here by taking this cute commuter train that runs from Santa Fe, to Albuquerque and all then on to Belen. The train is powered by solar energy. Pretty cool New Mexico.
